Frequently asked questions
should i Repair a windscreen chip?
Should I repair a chip on my windscreen?
If you have a chip in your windscreen, it might not seem like a big deal. But that little chip has compromised the integrity of your windscreen. If you leave it, bumps on the road or even sudden change in temperature (think heater on cold mornings) may make it grow into a crack, and you don't want that. Repair your windscreen before it becomes a headache.
What's the big deal?
Should I just wait until it cracks further?
Your windscreen is a structural part of your vehicle, helping to keep your roof from caving in if you are involved in an accident, so you want it to be strong. Any damage to your windscreen means the strength of the glass has been compromised. Repairing a chip means restoring the integrity of the windscreen.
What's more, if your chip cracks, it is most likely going to need to be replaced, which requires more time and money. Replacing windscreens is a lot more costly, takes more time and is less environmentally friendly. The sooner you carry out a chip repair, the better the result can be too, as dirt and water getting into the affected area can impact the finish of the repair.
Windscreen Repairs will not be invisible. They will generally leave a little "scar". A dull spot is usually visible, but it will generally have a significant improvement compared to the original chip. More importantly, the integrity of the windscreen will be restored.
Vehicle Inspection
Will I fail my WOF because of my windscreen chip?
It's possible. If your chip is in the driver’s line of site, or larger than 25mm, (about the size of a $2 coin) you may fail your Warrant of Fitness inspection.

A windscreen chip repair usually take 20 - 30 minutes and once it's completed you can drive it straight away.
how long does it take for a windscreen replacement with chipped limited?
Will I be without my car for the entire day?
Windscreen replacements usually take 1 to 2 hours depending on the type of vehicle and then require at least an hour for the urethane adhesive to cure before the safe drive away time (temperature and humidity may cause this to vary). If your vehicle has an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) it will also require re-calibration after the replacement. Depending on the type of calibration required we may need to wait for the vehicle to be drivable to complete this step. So usually your vehicle will be off the road from 2 to 4 hours. But remember, we come to you!
